Description
Lepeda is considered the official beach of Lixouri that is the largest town after the capital of Kefalonia.
From Lixouri to get there along the waterfront to the south, is 1 Km and a half.
Lepeda is a beautiful deep red sandy beach, not too different from the more famous Xi but definitely less crowded.
At the very beginning of the beach there are some rock formations on the beach bordering a small little bay, creating a breathtaking sight.
On the beach there is also a beach volleyball net for those who want to have fun and not just bask in the sun.
Worth noting that the whole stretch of coast between Lixouri and the beach is accessible and Lepeda red sand but should be considered free without bars or chairs for rent. |

Description
The beach of Variko is placed towards the end of the gulf of Argostoli and is not really a tourist beach or with a fabulous sea.
This area has experienced more by locals and fishermen because it looks more like a lake than the sea.
Surely the sea is calm, there are no tourists and the view of the mountains from the front and over the gulf is to be appreciated.
It may be a different kind of beach but not the recommended destination if you have short holidays. |

to get to the beach Koumaria that is closest to the bottom of the Gulf of Argostoli you have to take an unpaved road.

not easy to reach this beach because there are no indications and signs but if you follow the coastal road that goes towards Argostoli one mile after the junction to Lixouri before reaching Kodogourata there is a road on the right that goes down to the sea.
Down on the beach you will not find anything but a limpid and calm sea.
There is also the church of Agia Sotira which is a small white building just few steps from the beach.
From the beach you can admire the gulf of Argostoli. |

Description
Like to reach the beach of Agia Sotira, also for this bay there are no signs.
Following the road that goes to the sea to reach the beach of A. Ioani that is a marina for fishing (you can also see mussel farms not far) than a real beach. I do not recommend to spend the day.
Just before arriving at the beach on the left there is a dirt road that leads to the church of Ag Spiridona which is built on a rock just a few steps from the water.
Surely it is a beautiful original building to photograph.
I went down to the church you will also see that there are two beaches within walking distance. |

Description
Ligia is the last beach of the Gulf of Argostoli, the one on this coast nearest to the capital.
There are indications only in Greek and are only visible coming from Argostoli.
To be precise, there is another beach further south and closer to Argostoli but does not even have a name despite being a little larger than this. The beach of Ligia has a very clear blue sea and is flanked by a pier with benches, a stone church and a marina.
It is not a tourist beach but is frequented by the inhabitants of the nearby village of Farsa. |

Gradakia is the first of many creeks that are followed in this stretch of coast just behind the town and close to the tourist village of Lassi.
Gradakia is also the largest bay with a sea of innumerable shades of blue and rocks on the sides that form natural caves to swim.
The sea is usually calm and you can get a sandwich at the beach bar to the only bar (first photo).
After this there are two inlets smaller but really impressive (second picture) and then another wider beach equipped with deck chairs and umbrellas and a kiosk selling drinks and snacks (third photo). |

Description
Paliostafida beach is also called "Antonio beach" from the name of one bar near the sea.
It is a long spit of sand that more or less in the middle is interrupted by a small headland and after becomes thinner continuing until the end of the bay.
There are chairs and umbrellas along the beach and the sea get deep very gently making it a good choice for those with children. |

Makris Gialos beach is the most tourist and crowded bay in this area as it is very large and full of sand.
Behind the beach there is a pine forest, in front of a turquoise sea and the sand and the shallow waters are ideal for children to play.
There is a great choice of cocktail bars ideal for lunch or listen music at night.
All along the beach there are several entrances and there are also many free zones where to relax with your umbrella and your children. |

Description
Platis Gialos is the extension of Makris Gialos, they are separated only by a small promontory.
As the previous one is a tourist beach and crowded with a very nice sea and every facility for those who like comfort at the beach.
For those who like to be active there is also a beach volleyball court where have fun.
Beautiful are the pines behind the beach that create a charming environment.
You can see from the beach a fine strip of sand (third photo) that is only accessible by a hotel and that closes the bay along with a rock outcropping called Turkopodaro (the foot of the Turkish).
The beach has a small car park which is insufficient in high season. |

To the west end of the bay there is a huge cave with a small sandy beach, where you can also swim. |

Avithos beach is made of golden sand and is very long, for those who love walking on the beach and sunbathing.
It is equipped in the first part where there is also a bar. The beach is wild and free moving away to the east.
The water is shallow and therefore perfect for children even if the sea is not always calm and pay attention to the current.
The sea is so clean that this beach also received an award called the "Blue Flag".
From Avithos you can see the island of Dias with a church on top. |

Along the coast there is also a path to continue beyond this beach and reach the next one which is to Kanali.beach. |

In the right end of the beach there is a marina with a traditional Greek restaurant and then this long strip of sand and rocks where you can have any kind of comfort as showers and bars and restaurants within walking distance.
This beach for its succession of bars and restaurants is considered among the most "live" on Kefalonia island.
From the beach of Lourdas exists also a path to walk to visit the monastery, then another narrow road to reach the beach called Paradisi, not accessible by car. |

the road to get to Koroni beach is unpaved and not suitable for all cars.
The beach is very nice and the sea is really stunning here.
The shades of colors that you see coming from above the beach are breathtaking.
The stretch of coast on the left is all made of clay and then you can also put the mud all over your face or all over the body.
We must get the mud on the body and wait for it to dry and then have a swim in the sea to clean up. The result is an extremely smooth skin. |

Katelios is the beach of the homonymous village, is shallow, equipped for tourists and has a small port for fishermen and for those who have a boat.
It is not very great nor particularly attractive although it has a beautiful vegetation behind.
Ag Varvara, a little more wild and a little more charming. It has more open areas where you can have a relaxing time.
The is not very deep with amazing colors. |

Kaminia and Potamakia |

Description
Kaminia Potamakia together are the southern beaches of the island of Kefalonia.
While the first is bordered by a narrow road to park and has several points where you can rent deck chairs, the second you can walk further along the beach Kaminia and is free.
Kaminia also called Mounda is perhaps the only remaining beach in Kefalonia nesting turtles Caretta-Caretta.
For this reason, there are a couple of rules to follow to protect the species; do not make holes or dig, it is forbidden to camp, light fires, and even walking around at night in the summer.
